DEL PODESTÀ
The scent
of hidden love

In the heart of San Gimignano, where the towers mirror themselves against the sky and the wind carries echoes of ancient passions, rises the Torre del Podestà, guardian of a legend woven from love and downfall.
It is said that centuries ago, a young noblewoman of the Gregorio family fell in love with an alchemist, a man of great intellect whose hands were scented with luminous citrus fruits and freshly crushed red berries. Between them grew an intense, secret love, lived in the shadow of the walls and protected by the silence of night, while fresh notes of mandarin and lemon mingled in the air, vibrant as their desire.
When their bond was discovered, the alchemist was forced to leave the city. Before departing, he left the woman the fruit of his knowledge: small vials of rare essences, created to capture the delicacy of flowers and the warm sweetness of vanilla, symbols of their forbidden union.
Fearing that time or men might erase that memory, the noblewoman hid the vials within the tower’s cavities, among the beams and the oldest stones. Since then, it is said that on summer nights the air around the Torre del Podestà fills with an enveloping, sensual fragrance. Peony and orange blossom release a soft, luminous trail, while vanilla sweetens the air with a discreet yet lingering sensuality.
When the tower became a prison, the guards would tell that on the quietest nights a warm, deep scent rose from the stones. Golden amber, sandalwood, and musk wrapped the walls like a restrained embrace, capable of unsettling even the sternest hearts. Some swore they heard a song, others a hidden breath among the stones, as if the tower still guarded that love.

The essence that for centuries has slept within its walls, like a forbidden secret, is woven into the memory of San Gimignano, into its beauty suspended between light and mystery.
To wear Torre del Podestà is to carry with you a fragment of that hidden love: fresh and luminous at the opening, delicate and sensual at the heart, deep and enveloping in the memory.
